Welcome back, guys!

Thank you so much for all the love, support and feedback on my first official blog post which focused on self-love and general mental health tips!

If you are yet to read it, make sure you go and check it out after reading this post!

…So, honey, have you eaten at Noodle Lab Wagamama?

Noodle Lab-Wagamama is an Asian/Japanese inspired restaurant.  It is nestled away within Soho’s Dean Street, however, it is very easy to locate.

The lab focuses on testing and tweaking new variations of food/drinks before they are rolled out nationally across all the Wagamama branches.

‘ Some changes will be small, some not so small. but they will keep coming. This is the Kaizen*.’

  • Kaizen*- Everday in simple ways, strive to be better than the day before.

This unique branch of Wagamama lets you test out new dishes which have been created by the staff. The menu consists of a selection of starters, mains, desserts, and drinks. New flavors are brought to the table as they tweak and revise the menu after a few months, with help of evaluating feedback from customers. They have an online menu available  so that you are able to browse through if you’d like before visiting the restaurant.

The atmosphere is nice, chilled and relaxed. Great decor!  They also have a great music selection. I’ve literally been vibing for the whole duration of my meals. I’ve visited the restaurant on two occasions ( last week Saturday and Today ). Both times I have visited, it was not busy which was great for me because it meant that it felt a lot more spacious. The restaurant was clean and managed orderly. The staff were very friendly and pleasant. They were also polite, courteous as well as attentive to my needs. Additionally, they made great recommendations of what I should try from the menu.

Saturday 09/06/2018 ~

Main: Pad Thai-

On Saturday I visited en route home. I selected the Pad Thai as my main.

The Pad Thai consisted of rice noodles in an Amai sauce with egg, bean sprouts, leeks, chili, spring onion, garnished with fried shallots, peanuts, mint, coriander and fresh lime with Chicken + Prawn. It was simply delicious, my only qualm was I would have liked more in terms of the serving portion.

Side: Hirata Steamed Buns-

I selected the Hirata steamed buns as my side. The buns were filled with pork belly, panko apple + sriracha.  I wasn’t really sure what I was expecting,  as I had previously not tried a bun like this before,  but I was pleasantly surprised. It tasted like a mini sweet soft burger. I don’t think I’ll be getting it again though, as for the price ( £5.50) I didn’t think it was that filling.

I complimented my meal with an Ume Cosmopolitan Cocktail

  • Ingredients: Soji, plum wine and cranberry with a dash of bitters and a squeeze of lime. Love a good cocktail, and this one didn’t disappoint! Tasted light, fruity and vibrant.

Monday 11/06/2018~

I have just finished my lovely meal, so thought it would be great to blog about it straight away whilst the flavor is still fresh on my mind ( & mouth lol).

For my main, I chose the Grilled Duck Donburi-

The grilled duck donburi consists of tender shredded duck in a spicy teriyaki sauce. Mixed with carrots, mangetout, sweet potato and red onion on a bed of sticky white rice and topped with a crispy fried egg, cucumber and spring onions served with a side of kimchee.  I thought the meal was really nice. My only complaint is that I don’t think that the ratio between the toppings and the rice was satisfactory. I thought there was too much rice compared to the toppings, but other than that I thought it was nice and would be happy to purchase it again.

Complimented the meal with a Wagamama Mai Tai –

  • Ingredients: Sang som rum , plum wine, almond liqueur and pineapple juice, served with a dash of bitters and fresh lime. Again, no complaints about the cocktail , was cute and vibrant.

All in all, the service delivered was great. The food arrived in a timely manner ( approx 20 mins). The food arrived fresh, hot and scrumptious. I  definitely recommend a visit and I will be returning in the near future for lunch again!

I love the concept of the restaurant. There was something similar in Cape Town but the “lab” was in all branches. It didn’t have the “exclusive” element to it like Noodle Lab Wagamama though.
